Rapidshare is a 1-click file sharing service website that emphasize on the need of sending bigger files. The started as Rapidshare.de(a different organization with Rapidshare.com today) but unfortunately, they cannot sustain enough space for new files, as they stated on their official website “Unfortunately all drives of RapidShare.de are full right now”. So, Rapidshare.com is born. They started so fast on that year their alexa is sky rocketed and today they are now 17th most visited website in the world according to Alexa.

But, the-behind-the-scene-operating story of Rapidshare’s total domination on the world of internet is Warez. Of course we can see so much rapidshare links galoring on the net that it can also easily search on Google. Pirated Movies, Music, eBooks, etc etc most of them were shared in a fashionable way with Rapidshare easy full speed download function. Well, of course there are other sources like torrent, emule, nzb, megaupload etc but the fundamental thing is Rapidshare made millions out of Warez. The millions made is not individualy managed, there’s a company called Rapidshare that works on the financial and planning of the company that is based in Cham, Switzerland. Oh, and their CEO’s name is Bobby Chang.

In January 2008, The Germans which is equivalent to the RIAA, GEMA, have won a legal battle in district court in Düsseldorf over Rapidshare which is related to their Warez activity. And they started to proactively deleting illegal files, in which they failed as the Warez scene have become more bigger. As for now, Rapidshare still earned hugely from Warez, and still legally do so.
