Like humans, dogs are also bound to have few behavioral problems. Some dogs love digging and this can upset many beautiful flowerbeds. Others may enjoy nibbling on shoes while some may also have a tendency to jump onto people. All these dog problems can be rather unpleasant especially when it keeps happening over time.

However, it is not impossible to get rid of these dog problems. As an owner, you would want to make it clear who’s boss and let them know that there are rules to follow. By doing that, you will ensure that these dog problems do not get into the way of your life and relationship between you and your dog.

One of the most common of dog problems is destructive chewing. As puppies grow older, they will go through a teething stage and chewing will relieve the pain in its gums. To solve this, you can provide them with special toys developed specially to aid puppies through this stage. On the other hand, older dogs may chew because of stress, loneliness and boredom. Just like any human, a dog requires interaction and if it does not get that, it will turn to chewing as a way to amuse itself.

Another annoying dog problem is when dogs jump up on people. It can be quite dangerous especially if it is a large dog. Its claws can cause scratches on people’s skin or even worse – knock them down. Other than that, it can also be quite irritating to have muddy paws imprinted onto your fresh, clean clothes. For many dogs, their intentions are innocent and merely only to mean that they are happy and excited. Many dogs get excited when they see someone familiar and jumping up on them is a way to greet them.

Aside from that, another agitating dog problem is excessive barking. As a dog owner, you must know how annoying it can be when your dog keeps barking. Usually a dog barks because it is trying to communicate something. It can be because they are looking for attention, scared, raising awareness or even bored. So to cure this dog problem, you should make sure your dog is properly taken care of. Ensure that you feed it at the right time and always check that its water bowl has fresh water. Also, make sure your dog has access to use the bathroom.

However, if you find that your dog is barking for no apparent reason or because it is bored, then perhaps you are not spending enough time with it. If you are the sort of person with a busy life, then you can get some chew toys for it. You would be surprise that some chew toys can leave your dog amused for hours.

All in all, dogs have characters and personalities. There are bound to be some habits that may not be very accommodating. So be prepared. But do not let it deter you; dogs can be trained given that you do it patiently and persistently.
